I'm sorry if I sound like an insensitive asshole (which you all will think I do) but I'm tired of this. Yes, we should have remembered them on the first anniversary. But must we have a celebration/remembrance every year? How many have such a day on the anniversary of Oklahoma City? How many peeps remember the date of the Oklahoma City bombing? What about the early 80's attack on the marine barracks in Beirut?? Hundreds died there. I agree with Bunny's advice on peeps you know but I think we should feel that way EVERY DAY, not just on anniversaries of tragedies and such. Am sorry for those who think me insensitive. I just don't like dragging out this sorta' stuff once a year, having a concert from ground zero, then forgetting about it tomorrow.

Must we constantly be reminded of this tragic event. yeah it was something that should of never happened. I'm sure people who lost loved ones would rather not be reminded every constant year...that's my opinion. I think it's the media that always pushes stuff to the people.
Yeah, People lost loved ones but we must move on no matter what.

A media example how they try to push topics towards people is a few days before Thanksgiving.
They start showing those films of starving children in Ethiopia...as if to make us guilty for being with family and having food on this day.

And everyone else should let their friends and families kno how important they are to them, just in case they forget
Im sure that those familes who lost someone would love to b able to do that just one last time today.

Agreed, the media go overboard and hype everything. If an annual memorial service reminds people of the dangers we face everyday, its a good thing.

How many people think November 11th memorial services should stop? Not many, I'm guessing.

So to answer your question Lycan, as to how long you will have to suffer with these horrible tributes, well, probably until everybody forgets what happened on that day. I myself hope there will always be a tribute of some sort, if for no other reason that to know that somebody in this world actually has a heart and gives a shit about somebody other than themselves.

<font size="3" face="Arial">What I'm saying, Carl, is that if we only remember the tragedies on the anniversary as opposed to every day, don't you think that marginalizes what happened? Yes, it sucks that it happened, but would people be so quick to remember if an entire city was blown up? The answer is no, they wouldn't because it's not 'the next big thing'. How many americans could tell you when Pearl Harbor was? I'm not inconvenienced by remembering those that died at ground zero (how nice...another catch phrase) but will not degrade it into being nothing more than another 'holiday'. If we only remember them on 9/11, then what about 9/12? Are they remembered then? Think about it.

These are just a few examples of days we set aside to "pay tribute" to those things we should pay tribute to every day. Nobody is saying to forget all year, yet rather to give a little more on the day that it should really be noticed.
